Corn Starch is a multifunctional, fine, powdery starch that is made from native maize. It is most often used as a thickener for liquid based foods such as sauces, gravies and fruit pie fillings. Corn Starch is preferred over flour because it thickens very quickly and easily, and forms a translucent mixture rather than an opaque one. It is also used as an anti-caking agent in powdered sugar and baby powder.
